Współpracując przez 9 miesięcy z organizacją DTI w Barcelonie w Hiszpanii, będziecie mieli okazję zarządzać programem dawców narządów i tkanek. Waszym zadaniem jako wolontariuszy EVS będzie przygotowanie wraz z pracownikami DTI i prowadzenie programu edukacji i promocji idei transplantacji.
Receiving Organization description
DTI – DONATION & TRANSPLANTATION INSTITUTE, FUNDACIÓ PRIVADA, was founded in April 2008, and registered on May 12, 2009. The Foundation achieves its activity to the territory of Catalonia and Spain, and the territory of the rest of the world. DTI is a non governmental and non profit organization, established for an indefinite time in order to achieve objectives in the area of health and organd and tissue procurement and transplantation.The basic objectives of DTI are :
• Achievement of research, development and training projects with the aim to increase the opportunities of people to access to organ and tissue transplantation and enhance people quality of life.
• Promotion of development and cooperation between countries in the field of health. In order to achieve its objectives DTI :
• Develops educational activities in the field of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation
• Develops research activities and other involved in health care in suitable sectors
• Defines plans and quality programs related with Health Sciences and, especially, in the field of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation to contribute to its implementation
• Organises actions of international cooperation in the field of Health Sciences and, especially, on issues related to Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation, overall in countries of third world to cooperate to their development and with the aim to improve solidarity between people.
TRANSPLANT PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT – TPM -, constitutes the educational division of DTI – Donation & Transplantation Institute.
TPM is an international training program addressed to health professionals in the domain of organ donation. It was launched in 1991 under the auspice of the University of Barcelona (UB) and continue its activity at Parc Cientific de Barcelona (UB). Along the years TPM has acquired an international dimension. In 1994 it gained the recognition of the Transplant Committee of the Council of Europe. It was awarded for “Education and Training in Transplantation” by “The Transplantation Society (TTS)” in 2008. Nowadays, it constitutes a well-known specialized professional training program, counting with a worldwide network of more than 12.000 qualified trained professionals from 100 countries that sustain the undertaken training impact in their areas.

Although multifactor approaches are needed to tackle the issue of organ and tissue donation on different levels as social awareness, mass media campaigns, religion, ethics and legislative modifications. There is important also the training of professionals active in organ and tissue donation and their involvement in the implementation of pro-active donor detection systems at hospital level is highlighted as the major factor by many national and international programs.
The main objective of the project based on “Training Program in Organ and Tissue Donation” is to train the volunteer in techniques and methodology necessaries for management and coordination of a program in the field of organ and tissue donation. The project will be developped during 9 months in the venue of the Fundació DTI at the Parc Científic of Barcelona, thus combined with stays to attend the training courses as well as stays in some hospitals or sanitary centers of the Community with the aim to achieve the best training for the volunteer. The volunteer’s volunteering week will be 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Mornings will be dedicated basically to project tasks and afternoons to training activities.
The proposed activity implies the support to the development and implementation of the face-to-face and on-line training programs on organ and tissue donation for transplantation.
The aim of this project is to increase the international network of professionals trained in this field in order to improve the organ and tissue donation at international level. Within the network created, the TPM program will provide customer support and building Action Plans to promote organ donation among health professionals and general public. This network permits also empower us to build up training programs at large scale within the European Union (EU) and worldwide.
During all the stay the two volunteers proposed will have a coordinator who will be responsible of their activity and a supervisor who will help them in the process of their cultural, linguistic and social integration.
Profile of participants
Young people, male or female, ranging from 20 till 30 years, dinamic, enthousiastic and willing to participate in the projects and programs of our institution. Especially interested in the topic of donation and transplantation. There are no special requirements but a collaborative, active attitude and some background and/or studies in Health Sciences or Pedagogy will be valued. A basic or middle level in English is required. Basic knowledge of Spanish language will be also valued.
The volunteer must be a person willing to take advantage of the training possibilities offered by our Foundation and able to integrate in a team work.
DTI ensures the transparency of the selection process through the previous screening of the CV’s submitted by the responsibles of the program and a second step consisting in a personal interview through Skype, phone or videoconference.
