For this particular EVS position, the main activity will be working in Nová synagóga and Plusminusnula: preparing, installing, guarding and packing the exhibitions and other events (concerts, discussions, festivals, etc).
Nová synagóga and Plusminusnula Gallery are exhibition spaces for contemporary art and other cultural activities with international dimension. There are quality curatorial programs and a clear profile that will combine the production of exhibitions and intellectual discourse with other local community activities.
Other activities depends on mutual discussion and on the individual preferences, background and profile of the volunteer. He/she can develop his own activity which fits with our programme. During 12 months spent in our organisation, the volunteer can gain unique experience for people who would like to continue working in the independent cultural field. We are looking for a person who will actively look for new tasks and activities if he will be idle.
Main volunteering activities:
– curating support, preparation, installation and guarding of the exhibitions, communication with visitors, event management in Nová synagóga and Plusmínusnula Gallery
– daily tasks related to operation of the culture center (ticket sales, posters distribution)
– manual, mental and office work included!
– possibility to develop own project
accommodation, food and transport arrangements
We usually host 3 EVS volunteers at a time. Now, we want to have 5 volunteers due to growth of our organization, venue, events and tasks.
Our volunteers are accomodated in fully equiped rented flat(s) with separate rooms, in a walking distance from the venue. Žilina is a medium town with 85-thousand people, located not far from mountains. This town is suitable for walking/biking, mass transportation not needed.
Each volunteer gets 270 eur monthly for food and pocket money. They can cook at their flat, the kitchen is fully equipped.
The travelling costs are fully covered.

The volunteer for this project needs some previous experience in the art field – at least basic level knowledge of contemporary art is more than welcome. We are looking for a person who is willing to work hard and learn more, with the team who will share their knowledge and purely practical experience from years of work in Stanica and other venues.
