GSM-Youth Services Centre Association is a youth NGO established by a group professional youth worker and youth leaders, who have voluntary service and volunteering background. GSM’s objectives are to promote volunteering and voluntary service both on national and international level; to contribute in youth policy development both on national and international level; to raise awareness among young people about active participation; to prevent discrimination, racism and xenophobia and to enable young people to actively participate in decision making processes and civil life. In order to achieve these objectives GSM organizes international youth events, projects, training courses, exchanges and voluntary workcamps.GSM-Youth Services Centre Association believes in that volunteering is a strong educational tool for young people, and at the same time an alternative factor of local development. Therefore as one of the main aim, GSM promotes volunteering across Europe, develops new tools to be used, and organizes short term voluntary projects aiming to offer learning possibilities for all young people and promote active youth participation and sustainable local development. GSM accepts volunteering as a right for every young people without considering any religion, political view, race, gender, culture and language. Volunteering is a must for efficient and sustainable youth policy on national and international level. So it is important for GSM, as a youth organization, to create and to provide space for young people in order to enable them to experience the volunteering not only in Turkey but also in Europe, which will have a positive impact on their lives. In addition, GSM believes in that international volunteers are the cultural ambassadors to create bridges between societies and to increase the cultural dialogue among them. In any international activities, exchanges, voluntary workcamps that GSM organizes, it is important to include youth and voluntary aspect therefore for GSM the volunteers especially young volunteers are very important. In that sense European Voluntary Service will be another important tool for GSM to achieve its objectives. GSM will create spaces for international volunteers between the age of 18 and 30 and will support them with the projects which will enable them to improve themselves in theoretical and practical ways. Beside all the volunteers participating in EVS projects of GSM will have a chance to experience professional skills such as organizing an event, creating youth projects, having dialogue with different societies, project cycling management. In the future they will be able to use these skills in their professional lives. In addition the volunteers will have the chance to experience youth work, youth projects in the field by learning by doing aspect. This process will also eliminate any negative prejudices and increase cultural dialogue.
Project Description
The activity will host 6 volunteers at the same time and will last for 4 months.
In this term, the volunteers will be asked to prepare weekly online bulletin about the EU opportunities for the Turkish youth using the tools of Eurodesk Turkey.
Volunteers will be responsible for:
– updating the youth information on the GSM websites;
– effectively usage of the Social Media tools (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc) to distribute the youth opportunities;
– updating news about the GSM-Youth Services Centre via Social Media;
– visiting the institutions that benefit from the Erasmus+ program;
– gathering information about the activities & youth opportunities and helping to promote them.
The volunteers will interview the participants and organizers of the projects, ask about their experience and how they benefit from doing social works.
The EVS volunteers will mainly use audio and video recording devices and prepare a short promotional material (mainly visual materials) for each project.
Volunteers will also prepare the weekly bulletin which will be updated till 2018.
Opportunities:
Volunteers will have a chance to attend any activities organized by GSM and visit universities, schools and NGO’s to meet with different people and learn more about their activities. Also, during the first month of the project, the volunteers will take specific courses for the volunteers.
– Turkish courses (4 hours a week).
– Courses on journalism ( 6 hours at total).
– Basic courses on Online and Face to Face Youth Information ( 16 hours at total).

PROFILE OF VOLUNTEERS
The target group of our association is young people aged 15-30. For this reason, our volunteers who will join our team with EVS will work with young people between the ages of 15-30. Generally, young people from 18-25 years of age participate in our activities. The most important selection criteria for volunteers is that the candidates’ digital skills.

• Good level of English
• Tend to team work
• Work with young people in different religions and cultures
• Responsible for delivering the work properly and on time.
• They do not require luxury requirements on the study area and accommodation. (Cleanliness and safety are important for us)
• Creative and open-minded
• Looking knowledged / experienced or interested / enthusiastic volunteers on youth work.
